🌿 About Emma
I work with people who are trying to understand themselves and change their relationship with alcohol, addictive behaviours, and the patterns that keep them stuck.
My approach is grounded in both lived experience and a deep interest in human behaviour — particularly why we do what we do, even when it doesn’t make sense on the surface.
My background
I am in recovery from alcohol addiction, and that experience shapes everything I do.
I know what it’s like to:
- feel stuck in cycles of doing well and then slipping back
- carry things quietly while appearing “fine” on the outside
- try to fix behaviour without fully understanding what’s driving it
Recovery, for me, wasn’t about becoming perfect.
It was about understanding myself differently and building something more stable and real.

My work
I now support others through:
- recovery-focused content
- a private membership community (Dopamine Without Danger)
- workshops and educational resources
- writing and exploring human behaviour
I am particularly interested in the links between:
- addiction and ADHD traits
- emotional regulation and behaviour
- compulsion, repetition, and escalation
- the role of shame, secrecy, and loneliness
I’ve also studied forensic science and criminology, and I often follow live trials — not for the spectacle, but to better understand behaviour, patterns, and decision-making under pressure.
What I believe
I don’t believe people are “broken”.
I believe:
- behaviour makes sense when you understand what’s underneath it
- most people are trying to meet a need, not cause damage
- shame keeps people stuck far more than it helps them change
- recovery should feel calm, realistic, and sustainable
Why I created this space
I created Evolve Recovery and Dopamine Without Danger because I saw how many people didn’t feel comfortable in traditional recovery spaces, yet still needed support.
Many people don’t want:
- pressure
- intensity
- labels
- or environments that feel overwhelming
But they do want:
- understanding
- structure
- steady support
- and a way forward that actually works
This space exists for those people.
🌿 A final note
You don’t need to have everything figured out to start.
You don’t need to be at a certain point to belong here.
If something here resonates, you’re very welcome.
